      <description>And the Last Mascot Standing for 2009 is Mac the Panther, Lakeside high school.
Congratulations are in order for the fans of Lakeside Panthers as you have voted for Mac the Panther, winner of our MascotVote.com competition.

In all, local high school football fans made this a great campaign supporting 32 area schools&#8212;each deserving recognition for their contributions to the overall school spirit at their schools. 

The total number of registered votes to determine the winner was 220,094. 

Evan the Intimadator will pass on the crown to Mac the Panther and will have bragging rights as the Last Mascot Standing.

      <description>The Associated Press has released their Top 10 rankings for Georgia high schools. Several area school made the this week&#8217;s list.
The Associated Press has released their Top 10 rankings for Georgia high schools. Several area school made the this week&#8217;s list.

In Class 1A, Lincoln County is ranked (3) while Emanuel County Institute comes in at (10). 

Class 2A has Jefferson County ranked (4) with a 3&#45;0 record.

For Class 3A, Washington County, currently 3&#45;0, is ranked at (5) and in the (8th) ranking Burke County, 3&#45;0, shares that position with Flowery Branch despite their 2&#45;1 record.

The Richmond Academy Muskateers got 3 overal votes which puts them just on the outside of the top ten list for Class 4A.

      <description>Silver Bluff high school is known for its trademark Blue and Silver colors, but last Friday night, Green is what really stood out. 


Silver Bluff&#8217;s Robert Green plays on both offense and defense. In week two action verses cross county rivals Aiken, he scored four (4) touchdowns, three of them in Overtime. It wasn&#8217;t just OT session. The Bulldogs and Hornets went into five overtimes.

For his efforts, Robert Green was named the WJBF News Channel 6 Football Friday Night / Augusta Chronicle, Player of the Week.</description>

      <title>Tribute to Lakeside&#8217;s Ryan Clark Features Virginia Tech&#8217;s Marching Ban</title>

      <description>Virginia Tech shooting victim, Ryan Clark, was a CSRA native and Lakeside high school graduate. A special tribute took place during the Evans &#45; Lakeside game that included the Virginia Tech marching band.


Everyone recalls the tragedy and loss that followed when a lone gunman killed 33 on the campus of Virginia Tech in April of 2007. 

Ryan Clark, a member of the VT Marching Virginians was one of the victims. Clark, a CSRA native and Lakeside high graduate was memorialized during the Evans &#45; Lakeside game.
